Kid update
So, my eldest son's latest fad: Writing stories. He's getting pretty good, actually; but then, he has been slacking on his multiplication problems a bit. He theorhetically starts kindergaten tomorrow.

First (mostly) Self-Replicating Printer
The first (mostly) self-replicating printer has been demonstrated at this event. Not only is it licensed under GPL, but it only costs around $600 to put it together! It takes about 2.5 days to print itself out.

Softest, fluffiest, most loving cat ever. Momma-cat to both of our kids. When they were infants, and would cry, she would run over, lick their heads, then sit up and guard them. She will be missed. A lot. 2001-2010. RIP Winnie. You were everything we could have ever wanted in a cat.

So today...
...I designed a workable flying saucer, using well-understood, existing tech. The only problem: It'd probably cost $50k to prototype, and then probably $5 mil to get approved by the FAA (if I actually wanted to market them).

Update! No, really!
So, um, yeah. (:
I've been working 60-hour weeks, plus hiring and managing an intern, plus spending time with my family, plus buying an (older) truck and getting it passing emissions and registered (I need to get my riding mower into the shop and back before July 4th...), plus trying to maintain some semblance of a social life. Heh.
