We got a letter from the HOA bastards telling us we have to clear all the worthless plants off the hill behind our house and replace them with a vast swath of beautiful, scenic pine straw...

Friday we finished the first week of feeding Atari and then went out to a bar to hear a rockabilly band. It was fun, although the place was mostly deserted. They had $1 beers. I wish i drank them ( Read more... )

I racked the cider again last night. I also added some fining agents (kieselsol and chitosan) to try to clear it up. We tasted it as well. It was very tart and had a slightly odd taste that i can't quite place... I know i've tasted it before, i think it might just be a general dry wine flavor. So here's to hoping it turns out OK. We started secondary fermentation on the cider tonight. We racked it out of the bucket and into the carboy i found at the junk store. The specific gravity is now 1.022. So, theoretically it should be about 5% alcohol now. It tasted kind of like hard cider, but still pretty sweet. I think it will still take a good while to ferment to dryness...
