Installing Linux.
I had to do some on-line research to learn that HP uses F10 (or ESC) to get to the BIOS at power-on.
My flash card with the DVD ISO wasn't recognized until I put it in a USB adapter.

Test this media & install RHEL 8.2: the test failed.
Doing the install without the test doesn't seem to have any problems.

I've just used Zoom (the video-conferencing platform; I have another Zoom in my life) for the first time. It took most of half an hour to download the app, install, connect, and log in. My laptop does not have a camera, but the Bluetooth headset worked fine. My network connection was marginal, and the meeting dropped ( Read more... )

Yesterday there was a widespread RansomWare attack outbreak that largely shut down many hospitals in the UK and affected many telecom services and other companies, mostly in Europe. Since Comcast dropped their "Personal Web Pages" I've had no personal website. I'd put large numbers of photos on a couple of free websites, but the former (netsnapshot) went defunct and the latter (atpic) lost my photos repeatedly. Hosting them on Comcast would have been the simple solution, but they provided only 1GB ( Read more... )
