I just renewed the domain registration for my website. $8.50/year for the .name domain with Dynadot. Harumph - they have a referrals deal ($5 credit for each of us), but I'm not spending enough to qualify ($9.99/yr). I just noticed a new spider crawling my website:TurnitinBot
This robot collects content from the Internet for the sole purpose of helping educational institutions prevent plagiarism. In particular, we compare student papers against the content we find on the Internet to see if we can find similarities.

I've been up about 15 minutes. The Optima battery is too low to charge the laptop through the charge controller, and going around the charge controller looks marginal now too. This is probably it for updating the journal today until I get home unless I do it from the car battery.

After following links to a commenter to a friend's LJ post, I learned of Let's Encrypt, a free and open Certificate Authority. So I should be able to get a free SSL certificate for my website. Not that there's anything on my website that needs encryption. (Yet.) It would just be nice to be able to do it.
