Thanks for the suggestion. When I've been in that area on the 4th before, it looked like you needed to get there early in the day to have any hope of parking (so just picnic all afternoon). But if I go on my own I can get just about anyplace on a bike. Except probably the Mall, since they're pretty restrictive about access when they're expecting big crowds ever since 9/11 - limited entry points, inspecting packages, etc. Parking all along 110 and around the Cemetery/Fort is probably more restricted now too.
There's been pretty decent fireworks near Marymount Univ in the past, and that's walkable from here. I guess I'll have to figure out what we're doing soon, though. Sunset's at 20:38.
