Now comes the album-making phase for The Tar Plains....

We were ridonkulously productive last Sunday during our band practice. We recorded about five YouTube videos, mostly for our internal education purposes. For the second time this month, a picture of myself has appeared in a publication....

On today's Portland Mercury print issue (p. 35), the "keytars on our backs" band picture (taken by sodapopprincess a few months ago) is on the advert for Ground Kontrol. This is very timely, since we have a show there this evening. Yay!

The Tar Plains show last night (at the Ash Street Saloon) was plenty of fun. I definitely feel that it was the best performance that I have ever put on. The turnout was pretty good, and I am grateful for all the support. During the band practice earlier in the night, we recorded a practice video. "That's Entitlement!" is becoming one of our favorite songs to play during shows. There are little nods to The Jam and The Smiths in the song's title and lyrics, respectively ( Read more... )

Even though we're extremely silly during the pre-song banter, this is probably the most serious song that we've ever practiced. Since the lyrical contents are about mental illness and feelings of hopelessness, I am certain that we'll probably be more solemn and serious when we perform this song live at our future show(s ( Read more... )

The root canal appointment was mostly uneventful. Thank goodness. There were actually three root canals which were worked on--I got a TriRoCa procedure done (Tri-Root Canal)!

Of course, TriRoCa is not sexy as the TriBeCa area of Manhattan (Triangle Below Canal), but I couldn't help but to think about Canal Street during the entire two-hour ( Read more... )
