My car has steadily been getting worse over the last couple weeks. It always takes a couple tries to start if I've driven it in the last couple hours, but roars to life if the engine is cold. The rubber strip at the top of the windshield has come mostly unglued, and now flaps around on top of the car whenever it's windy or I go over 60 mph.  ( Read more... )

For the last week or so, we've heard coyotes howling at night.  They've sounded pretty close, but it's been very late at night--two or three in the morning.  We've turned on more lights when we let Rosie outside, and we check the yard first.

Dinner was tasty.  We toasted Obama and stuffed ourselves well past silly.  We still haven't found room for dessert, yet, but we did follow one of our most sacred Thanksgiving traditions.

My brother (the one in New York) called me late Tuesday night, after Obama had given his acceptance speech.  He said that it was the most important day of his life, bar none.  And I realized that for the first time since the aftermath of 9/11, I am proud of my country. I am, in fact, more proud of it than I've ever been in my life.
