HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I can't remember the last time I had this much fun on New Years Eve.  Amanda Palmer did a show with the Boston Pops tonight.  ( Neil Gaiman and Amanda Effin' Palmer, baby! )

Last week, I lost my drivers' license.  I figured some gleeful college student picked it up and was psyched about their new fake ID, even as I was furious with myself for being so careless. Well, guess what arrived in the mail this morning? ( cut for pic & vid )

Just heard from one of my friends--the one I'm going to move in with in April--that she had to leave for LA.  Her mother has late-stage pancreatic cancer that has already spread to other organs, and they don't think she's going to last very long ( Read more... )

Very sad news...one of my best friends has been teaching English in Korea for the last several months.  He returned home two weeks ago because his father is very ill--he had cancer a few years back, and about three weeks ago there was a new, very serious problem with his digestive system.
