I think yesterday went well. I woke up late but managed to get the coffee going and the ovens preheating in plenty of time. The Fellowship Committee had the whole breakfast ready fifteen minutes before serving time, and I had all but one of the pans washed before service. Today is the suck.

For those of us who have to prepare for the preparation period of Lent, it starts in two weeks.

Okay, so I'm obviously glad to celebrate that Jesus is risen. ("He is risen, indeed! Alleluia! Amen.") Unfortunately, that means that I am down three from my previous count of devotion meditations. I need to dig up that devotions book that Momma gave me...and maybe something with more meat to it for the days I really want to get into it.

Well, Todd and I have really dived in. We joined the Kerygma class, so we have homework for Sunday school every week; we might have joined two small groups, so we'll be meeting with these groups three weeks a month; and we've joined the inquiry class, so we have homework for that each week ( Read more... )

I really don't like reading Psalms. The psalms are annoying. I know that others find comfort in finding a way to express themselves through them, but they seem completely separate from my life. I want to get back on track with God. The trouble is that I can't think of a way to do it that doesn't make me feel like I'm trying to trick God and/or myself. Years ago, I was hung up on prayer because I thought I had to pray perfectly and beautifully. I quit praying. For the record, I'm sick of my fire station. Not everyone can drop everything for something that gives almost nothing in return but headaches. I have to be at the stupid station on Palm Sunday, and with only a few days notice. I intentionally scheduled myself out of being at the station for Palm Sunday or Easter.
