I very nearly hit a dog while driving home from work today.  I was on this two-lane road when this little dog, like a dark-colored Chihuahua, comes running across the road almost right in front of me.  I saw it in time to hit the brakes, and it made it across the road, but holy cow.  The dog showed no sign whatsoever that it saw me.  Scary ( Read more... )

Watched the Doctor Who finale again last night.  (Different crowd, you see.)  Even better the second time, lemme tell ya.  But that's Moffat all over.  The end, though - the end!  Gives me such warm fuzzies.  Makes me so absurdly happy.  That's good drama, you guys.  Moffat pulled off a eucatastrophe.  Because he is awesome ( Read more... )

So Amy got laid off.

She's been with the bookstore for ten years - TEN YEARS - and word comes down from the corporate office that they are eliminating one of the supervisor positions company-wide: her position, of course.  And not actually, y'know, letting the general managers do things like fire somebody else and shift the person who's losing ( Read more... )

Amy has a beau.  Not that I can go into much detail, but he's the dad of one of the junior-high girls Amy teaches and has taken under her wing.  Which, y'know, is a fairly attractive thing to do, teaching and mentoring a single dad's girl.  And said beau is a geek.  Who has invited Amy out on two dates now.  Pretty much everyone who knows Amy is ( Read more... )
