So Amy was diagnosed with mono this week. (That's mononucleosis, for those outside the US.) On top of her job and her studies, it's going to make her life... interesting. Why does there have to be a disease that causes lethargy for an entire month? (And I'm hoping I've already been exposed at some point, 'cause having two of us down would get very old very quickly.)
The rest of the geek squad was unavailable last night, so Amy and I rented Planet 51 and The Lightning Thief. The first wasn't very good. They didn't have nearly as much fun with the concept as they could have, and it was like they had lots of good elements and didn't know how to tie them together. Oh well.
The Lightning Thief was considerably better, not only because it has Sean Bean in it. It was kinda fun figuring out plot twists based on Greek myths, though I was sad that I didn't manage to figure out the Lotus Eater thing right away. I think I should give the books a go, just to see.
Lessee... did laundry today, and went to the farmer's market. I love the farmer's market. It's lively and fun. And there are musicians. There's this one group of old guys who play bluegrass, and do it very well. They've got an accordian and a banjo and everything, and there's always a crowd around them, clapping along. And then there's these kids, siblings as far as I can tell, who all play string instruments, who are equally fun to listen to. And there's samples of organic cheese and local sausage and homemade salsa and anything else the vendors want to tempt us with. There's bouquets of bright chrysanthemums, a guy making balloon animals, one vendor selling German roasted almonds, several tables of pottery...
And it wasn't very hot today either. Great day to be outside and having fun.
