I leave tomorrow, but as always have yet to pack. Equally as always, it's blazing hot, and so the very idea of even touching long sleeves stuff makes me leave packing till the last day. I've been hunkered down trying to finish this massive book, fighting heat (this room never cools down, ever) and dealing with family kafuffle, including five days there of having to walk four separate dogs. (Two dogs will kill each other on sight, one is so old and rickety he can't keep up, etc) so I'm reading here, trying to keep up with people's ( Read more... )

Had to deal with a family emergency happening the night before my left-eye surgery (which was the worst eye, took the longest to recover). The result was, spouse and I had to take turns spending the night at his mother's, which meant basically staying up all night as she wanders about at all hours, with no idea where she is ( Read more... )

Rain has hit up here in Newbury Park. It's in the low forties. I was just outside on the exercise bike, glorying in the rain and fresh air as I beavered away. The bike is the kind that the young do "spinning" on (for the longest time all these references to spinning I'd thought was a fad for, you know, actually spinning, and I looked for home looms ( Read more... )

Been working away. Have a cover for the Ball antho, and a blurb. The last stories are either in completion or finishing copyedit. Formatters are grabbing stories as they finish. I have to tackle contract stuff next, and then!
