I really love this late summer/early fall time of year. It's not as brutally hot as the summer, but it still stays light late enough to go bike-riding after dinner. I have been a serious bike-riding beast all this summer. Last weekend, I finally went on a bike ride from the new address. It was pretty great. The neighborhood around Oldpartment was nice, but it was so harsh and hilly. After services on Friday, two old Jewish ladies told me that they'd saved some grocery bags for me to crochet with. I said, "Great," thinking that they each probably had one grocery bag filled with grocery bags. Wrong. They both had two garbage bags stuffed with grocery bags! I've been celebrating two holidays lately, St. Patrick's Day (probably the biggest drinking holiday in mainstream America) and Purim (easily the biggest drinking holiday in Judaism). Today, August 10, is the anniversary of my conversion. Two years ago today, I mikvah'ed in the muddy, sandy Amite River in Denham Springs (yeah... blegh) and became officially Jewish.
