Five weeks ago Z's mum was in hospital where the diagnosis of 'chronic bronchitis' became 'suspected malignancy in the right lung'. The fact that it was lung cancer did not surpirse anyone considering a) how much the woman smoked and b) that she had worked in the chemical industry all her adult life. I still haven't quite recovered from my vacation because the last few days I ended up having a mini-breakdown.
