This is exactly the sort of thing that occupies Z's fantasy life. (Not disaster so much, as being prepared to face disaster). Yesterday at 11am Z said, "I'm just going to park the car closer to the house". At noon when he still hadn't appeared it was starting to look like one of those stories in which the guy says "I'm just off to buy cigarettes" and then is never seen again, but two minutes later he strolled in with flowers and cake.
