Now that the airplane business is out of the way on to the delicious Japanese food.  It's not hard to eat in Japan as a non fish eating vegetarian.  I even got to tell one adorable lady in our hotel restaurant that I was vegetarian.  She came back and asked "fish?"  "Iie"  And then like a minute later came back and asked "egg?"  "Hai."  Good times.

I'm pretty sure it was sweet potato ice cream in Kamakura, Japan.  Despite how weird it sounds it was delicious and I hope I can eat it again when I'm in Japan this summer.

This morning I made French Toast for breakfast.  On real French bread!

I got this recipe many years ago on a PBS cooking show.  I wrote it all down by hand!  I've been making this sandwich for years and I don't need a recipe anymore.  However, I've put together a photo tutorial for you in case you'd like to make it.  This is easily one of my favorite sandwiches.

I consider myself a bit of a salsa connoisseur.  I think most people in Arizona are or at least should be.  Anyway, I got this recipe last year at a salsa tasting.  I tasted six different kinds and this one was my favorite.  I guess I shouldn't say this is my favorite of all time.  It's just my favorite sweet salsa.

While I was on my pie kick I did this Cherry Cranberry Pie.  I took it to a boss's house around Thanksgiving time.  It was a huge hit.  I think part of it had to do with the homemade crust which is super easy.  I used this same crust for the meat pies.  Talk about versatile!

When the TV show "Pushing Daisies" came out I became obsessed with pie making.  Unfortunately, I could not find a recipe for Chuck's Pear Pie with Gruyere Crust.  What I did was I took a basic apple pie recipe with cheddar crust and adapted it.  I still would like to make the pear version.  ( Recipe... )

December proved a very creative month for food.  After seeing Sweeney Todd I became inspired to make meat pies.  The only problem is I don't eat the meat.  I fiddled with a meat recipe and came up with this:
