Got revised and trimmed draft of chapter for edited volume off to editors, who sound appreciative (even if I failed to quite grasp all the minutiae of the somewhat arcane bibliographic conventions in play, sigh).

The thing with going away for 3 weeks is that when you come back:
There is doing various things that you committed to doing (emailing info to people etc) while you were away or thanking people for stuff they did during your travels..
Doing those things you deferred because you were going away (hai, eye test & dental hygienist! editorial things)

Squatting like a toad on my life for the past several months has been a review of a book that I consider quite a useful intervention in the thing it's intervening in, but I have just had so much trouble in getting myself together to write the review.

Took tomorrow off, so I am off work until the Monday after New Year. I would have taken today off, but I had two public desk slots scheduled and was highly sceptical that I would be able to find swaps, given how many people had taken today off.

Including the edit of the biography ms, which is now burnt to CD and ready to be posted to my editor (postal strikes permitting).

Which was very nice and at which I stayed far longer than I'd intended.

And the rest of September and early October is an ongoing mad whirl of social events, conferences, etc.

Did some website edits.

Fiddled about with bibliography for the albatross and read through for possible places to trim.

Cut and pasted stuff from my UIUC notes into a Word document as the basis for a conference paper.

Idled around a bit.

Went to the gym.
