Living in the southern hemisphere is a strange beast. Today is May Day and yet with the season's wheel turning we are already in autumn heading rapidly towards winter so it is sort of like an unofficial Samhain instead. Too confusing. So Halloween was a bit lackluster, truth be told, but not all bad.
I ended up spending the afternoon to early evening hanging out in CBD (ie downtown Melbourne) on the steps of Federation Square just sort of hanging out and later on reading a book soaking up the nice weather until the sun set and it got chilly. As it is officially after midnight here in Japan that makes it All Hallow's Eve so a happy new year to all and don't let the scary creatures trick ya'!

Lots of wasted time but I did go to Tokyu Hands last night to pick up some thin gold wire, brown hemp string, and random baubles to put into my dread ponyfalls for my steapunk-inspired Halloween outfit (emphasis more on the punk part, less Victorian as I'll be wearing it to a club). I just had some Trader Joe's Gingeroo cookies for breakfast since my parents package came in this morning (postman woke me up at 9! *grumble*). Yummy!
Incidentally I now have my steampunk underbust corset from the lovely Sidonie of To Die for Designs as well. It is quite pretty and a lot more flexible than I thought, for all that it has metal boning ( Read more... )
