October snow

It was snowing when I woke up; little white fluffy specks that would turn to slush as it melted into puddles of water. Eventually it got cold enough that small bush-like areas of snow would form but not enough to cover much of anything; just enough to confuse. Looking out I could see autumn foliage dipping under the weight of new-fallen snow. Very odd, this weather.
I had a decent evening last night. I ended up at a Halloween-themed house party where I was planning on using my pre-Lady Snowblood white kimono and turn it into a yūrei, or Japanese ghost. However, I was lazy and ended up in a Victorian-esque gothic lolita outfit mostly utilizing the clean lines of Miho Matsuda with an h. Blood skirt, a mini-top hat and some witchy heels. It worked well enough but a friend and I were laughing that such an outfit was what I considered "being lazy". I'll try for the yūrei look for tomorrow's cemetery potluck and hope and pray that the weather will work with us as this place isn't particularly close to public transportation and I have no idea how to get there. I also don't want to go sloshing around in my expensive Deorart-brand geta shoes.
All Hallows Eve brings work and a gothy night club that evening which will probably mean that I'll be wrecked for work on Tuesday but whatever, I don't care. It'll be much better than last Samhain's emo-fest.
As for tonight, it's funny, it's Saturday and when I was coming home on the train this evening all I saw were ridiculous and some appalling Halloween outfits utilizing awful stereotypes I decided that I was actually pretty happy curling up inside my house with my little space heater and no plans for this evening and no one I need to meet. Yeah, there are events I could go to but I'm quite content where I am. I've got tea, candles, warmth, music, and my copy of Catherynne M. Valente's The Habitation of the Blessed which I am reading in tandem with the audiobook. I think more tea should happen soon, too.
