Hello all. =D I'm knitting a hat from a pattern I found here on lj. It's not too hard thus far but there's something in the instructions I just don't understand.

Crown Shaping:
Round 1: *k2tog, [k2tog, yo] 8 times*; repeat between *s around - 102 sts rem.What do the brackets mean? I get that I need to repeat that whole step on the needles between ( Read more... )

I'm sure it's a massive secret that everyone except me already knows, but today I discovered the SSP* stitch as a replacement for end of RS knit row SSK* decreasing!
It's so much prettier and mirrors the K2Tog much much better, plus none of those horrid slip lines showing! Perfect for the v-neck I'm currently knitting.

I came across this in a pattern I was thinking of knitting: bernat's Petunia the Piglet.It says something like: row 1-(ws) k , row 2 (some increases or something) - it tells me to work in a reverse st - ??? what is that? do I purl or knit the next row ( Read more... )

im making a preemie baby cap, and i got to a point in my pattern where it says:
"Decrease rows: *K1, k2 tog into back of st"

i understand that it means knit one, then knit two together, but what does "into back of st" mean? any help is much appreciated! thanks!!!

so - as usual i am passing time at work by knitting. i am currently in the midst of knitting a fisherman's style woolly hat for my lovely other half (he is obsessed with team siszou and the life aquatic, so i promised i'd make him his own red hat to be a member too!) (pattern taken from here)
