I have some cute yarn that I recently acquired and was thinking of knitting my little cousin a felted hat and mittens. Problem is, I know nothing about felting lol. Does anyone know a good pattern for a hat and/or mittens for a beginner?

Just wondering if anyone knows where I can find a Baby Fruit Hat pattern like this or this. I know I can buy Ann Norling's Berry Cap pattern for $3.00, but then I have to pay $20 to ship it to Australia since it isn't a downloadable version. Any other suggestions would be great.

I finished a hat! And it's my first random knitting project that I did on the fly with no pattern, too!

Two pics behind the cut. The first one gives a good idea of the color and the shape, but the flash pretty much kills the details of the brim, so I took a second washed out pic that does the braiding a little more justice.

I am 2 squares from finishing my very first scarf (which will be my first FO unless you count a potholder/coaster where I practiced stitches and binding off). I want to try a hat next; how difficult is the kittyville hat from SnB? Is there a hat that is easier in that book? I really want to try using circular needles or dpns.

i want to learn to knit preemie caps that i can donate for the local hospitals. i know there are tons of patterns out there, but if you could reccommend some easy ones for a beginner - it would be appreciated!

*note: i dont know how to use DPN's, only circulars and straights :]

I just bought a skein of Lion Brand "Homespun" and want to make a roll brim hat, the package says 10.5 needles, and I want to use circular needles. The problem is that I haven't been able to find a pattern that uses 10.5 gauge, and the roll brim hats I've seen vary wildly in number of stitches to cast on. One says 54, another 90.
