I'm knitting on a loom, and the yarn is very delicate (they call it "boa" yarn - link w/ pic is below). Should felting be attempted with this (or anything that would close the stitches in a bit)? I am afraid of ruining the color or texture of it, but it would be nice not to have such a "fragile" scarf which I'm afraid will catch on EVERYTHING. I ( Read more... )

Strange question, but since I've never felted I thought I'd ask. My mother-in-law bought two sweaters in Ireland that are wool. She wasn't thinking about it and washed them in hot water, might even have dried them. Since she couldn't wear them anymore she gave them to me ( Read more... )

Hello!  I was hoping someone could offer some advice.  I made the Swat Team Kitties from the Crafty Alien site.

Unfortunately, I can't get this felting thing to work.  I thought I followed the directions, but it didn't work.

Any tips for felting?  Or any step-by-step directions that always work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have some cute yarn that I recently acquired and was thinking of knitting my little cousin a felted hat and mittens. Problem is, I know nothing about felting lol. Does anyone know a good pattern for a hat and/or mittens for a beginner?
