Spent a hunk of yesterday in the ER--acquired a urinary tract infection on Friday, thought I had it under control but unintentionally exacerbated it with soda on Sunday, and had intermittent but really severe abdominal cramps from Monday on. Despite Kaiser’s insistence that I could get started at Weight Watchers with just my confirmation number, the woman behind the desk last night was far more interested in getting the voucher than doing anything for me. Took Friday off for traffic school (which was excruciating, but that’s rather aside of the point). Spent the long weekend in a round of sleeping, pottering about home, and pointless errands, punctuated by the large annual lobster party on Sunday, and a smaller household-and-a-few-guests dinner on Monday. Concert last night was fabulous: today I’m a little draggy.

Weight: Promised Thomas I would start Weight Watchers again last week, with Medb and Su’s group, but last Thursday Medb and Tonwen were going to Disneyland (last day for mid-level annual passes before the long summer blackout) and this Thursday we went to the concert instead. Weight: 209.6. Down a pound from the 19th; not surprising, given illness and lack of appetite. Started tracking food on Weight Watchers again. Walked around the block with Mary during afternoon break.

Reading: I actually did a lot more of it than I’d thought, but mostly in the first half of the year before I started the lj. Since the last update, got inspired by the lectures at the Getty and knocked off a few more chapters of Private Life in Renaissance Venice. Really fascinating book, if you happen to be me.

Needlework: Finished stitching the third Halloween pin and glued the last two together by the 27th. Gave the third one to my co-worker, Mary, and the second to Tonwen as a thank you for my nifty Ravenclaw scarf (P of A pattern). Which was in turn a thank-you for sewing her Order Robe last year, but we decided we could stop there.
