Catching up, Again

Review of the FIDM exhibit in previous entry (backdated to Thursday), if y’all care.

Thomas Made Arrangements, so last night I did more yardwork, for which you may read, Uncovered more dirt. At the present rate I should have the whole yard cleared in oh, two or three years.

Saturday was Kaleidoscope, the annual Cal State Long Beach open house. The barony technically has a chapter on campus (right now it’s just Cormac, but that looks like it will pick up directly). It’s been a good recruitment-and-community-visibility opportunity for us. Thomas and I started out disorganized but got better: Deja did a lovely job with my hair, Thomas pitched chocolate at everyone, Ginevra’s household fed us things all day, Christine and I walked the length of the faire, we drank smoothies out of pineapples, and we all shared Siobhan’s kettle corn. It was a nice day and we all had a great time at Marri’s Pizza after.

Sunday was Company of Clothiers: plenty of fittings, some of them even second fittings (progress!) but not so crazed that you couldn’t sit around and talk some. We picked out the trim and beading pattern for my vestito for Anniversary, and I even got to work on the shading for the goth sampler. Actually put the first stitches in that night, at Morgan and Gwenna’s for dinner. I’m not sure I’m happy with the size-it seems huge to me. Probably should have just backstitched the text, instead of doing it in cross stitch. Will post pictures soon, I promise!

Weight: 213 by the scale at Kaiser today. Down a pound from last month: not statistically significant, but better than up a pound.

Needlework: Besides the sampler, have been making progress on the Assisi. The outlining’s about three-quarters done.

Read: Duty and Desire, the second Pamela Aiden book, and These Three Remain, the last book of the trilogy. The second, and parts of the third, really were rather more Mrs. Radcliffe than Jane Austen, but I rather got into it and ended up enjoying them more than I expected. Feeling a need to go back to the original material now: will probably pick up The Annotated Pride & Prejudice next.
