More of the Daily Stuff

Wednesday: to Eddie’s before work, to drop off the crock pot for Yule and get Thomas’s hair cut. Discussed color and perm with her, as I looked terrifically grey (and big as a house) in the picture from the Ball. (Thomas looked rather fabulous, though.)

To work: systematically combed through Big Lots! lunch, having begun my annual search for the cheap-but-useful-and/or-attractive Thing that I could buy six of for 12th Night presents. Nothing inspiring there this year, but I still managed to spend $36 on this and that. (Present for the Toys for Tots drive, rod for the drape we need to install over the laundry room doorway, some ridiculously cheap beads and findings….)

Home: after the Tut exhibit, I impulsively purchased a catalog for the previous Tut exhibit (very much cheaper than the catalog for the current one, even with shipping), and it had arrived. Found it very illuminating: the reason I'd been so much more impressed by the previous exhibit was that the stuff was so much more impressive. It wasn't just the mask and Selket: there was a bunch of truly spiffy artifacts that had not returned. Nice to be reminded, and to know I wasn't just duped by the rosy glow of nostalgia. Spent most of the evening on the couch: sat through Criminal Minds and CSI to finish up the site favors for Yule. That done, I suppose I should start thinking about clothes. And table settings.

Today: Work. Shot lunch. Two pounds lighter by the scale in the doctor’s office-God knows how I managed that, between the sweet potato pie and the seasonal influx of dark chocolate covered cherries. I am forced to concede that I have no idea what's going on, or how to influence it in a direction that I like.
