This quarter, and probably the remainder of my next two years, will be incredibly time consuming and stressful. But at this level (and particularly this quarter), all of my professors rock absolutely and everything that we are covering in lectures is 100% pertinent to the real world… OK, my real world, which is somewhat withdrawn from real life. I just had a very long conversation with one of the new post-docs in the lab. He's from either Bolivia or Peru, I can't remember which. After having done his undergraduate work on optimizing water purification, he worked with the US Navy. He went into a South American village for 6 months.
