I can't believe Anya is 10 months old.
Let's see...updates in bullet form:
- Two more teeth, bringing our total to 6. She's still vampire baby with her two incisors, but no middle teeth yet...the one on the right is really close to poking through, but not yet.
- No crawling yet. She's very close. She does the backing up thing, but can't figure out the moving forward thing. Also, she likes standing, and has started figuring out the cruising thing...walking around furniture. (She's definitely more of a thinker, not a do-er.)
- Words. Oh, I think she's saying mama and dada and kitty (more like gitty). But, they aren't really consistent, so I'll keep listening and encouraging.
- Food...we're to 2 solids meals a day. She loves her apples, pears, sweet potatoes, and graham crackers...oh my...graham crackers are like crack for babies. She does this thing where she giggles while she eats...cutest thing. Recently, while nursing, she's been pulling off and whiny crying. I'm not sure what's going on, but I have a hunch that it's overactive letdown or the opposite...not enough coming out. I can't figure it out, but she's still gaining, so I'm not too concerned.
- She loves pointing, clapping, dancing, reading books, being carried, and the kitty. The cat likes to come by and sit next to her on her play mat. Anya will just pat and pet the kitty happily and Kaylee just sits there and takes it. The cat has nipped at her a few times, but they're the warning bites - all teeth and no chomp, and Anya hasn't been worried by it at all. I usually send the cat on her way before we get to that point, though.
- Sleep. We are working on getting her to sleep in her crib without a lot of help. I usually go through our evening routine, and then rock her to sleep. But, if she wakes up when I put her down, I've been leaving the room and coming back periodically to check on her. She cry/whines a tiny bit, but has been getting a lot better recently. Though, last night, she decided to wake up at 1:45 and not go back to sleep until 4:30. I don't know what was up...she was just wide awake...she wasn't crying in pain or anything. I just rocked her and rocked her and held her and rocked her. Nothing. But really, she's been pretty great with sleep. She'll usually fall asleep around 8:15 and then wake up around 7 or so.
- I got some random money for my birthday last month and decided to get a membership to our local aquarium. It's unlimited admission, so we've been going about twice a week for about an hour or two. It's not very big, but she likes watching the fish swim and I like the otters. :) I've decided to learn as many of the animals' names as possible. The aquarium has a Splash Park that will be fun when she's a tiny bit older. There are sprinklers all over and little kids galore!
- Projects: I found a tutorial online for an easy cut-and-tie tutu, so I made her one (picture below). It was very easy and fun to put together. I found fairy wings at Target the other day (only $6!!) and couldn't resist making her a tutu to go with it. Also, I let my mom friends know that I'd make them something if they bought the material, so I've been having fun with that. I made a shopping cart cover thing for myself and I'm in the process of making one for a friend. I will be making a diaper bag for my friend due in a month. Anyway, I've been trying to keep busy.
So, we've been doing well. She's still small, but is still on her 3rd Percentile path. :) That's what she gets for having two small parents.
