For the past month The Boston BeauTease have been presenting their (semi) annual dark cabaret, The Wrathskellar (4 more shows: tomorrow, Friday, and two on Halloween), but on the nights we're dark there's been another show in there.

I'm unable to go see this, but some of you might be interested in Shakespeare's Guide for Lovers at Plimoth Plantation.

It's a modern play that draws on Shakespeare's work, but (here's the nifty part) the performances are done in the 17th century Village fort/meetinghouse by candlelight.

Last night we attended opening night of OperaHub's production of Der Vampyr at the BCA. It had a lot going for it: it was about vampires, the libretto was written by our friend John J. Last week I saw Liars and Believer's Icarus at Oberon. It's a retelling (sort of) of the Icarus myth set in a freak show traveling around the Dust Bowl. It's (sort of) a musical with a small live band, minimal sets, and some cast members playing multiple parts, so it's got that traveling show feel ( Read more... )
