When I enter the URL of my journal in the menu bar, I sometimes get redirected to www.livejournal.com. If I try again it usually works correctly, but sometimes it takes a couple of tries. Clicking on a link has never produced this problem.

Has anyone else seen this?

For two weeks, I've been getting emails from LiveJournal every time I log in, saying that I've never logged in from that IP address any more. At one point I'd speculated that they were using tracking cookies to determine this, then changed my mind. It appears that I was right. LiveJournal has rolled out a new feature in which users are notified by email if they log in from a place that they haven't previously logged in from before. This is an excellent idea if it works, since it alerts users to possible security breaches ( Read more... )

Currently I'm working on a Java application to take the XML output of jbackup and turn it into readable HTML. It will create one file per post plus an index.html file. Posts will be linked so you can start at the first post and walk through them all by clicking "next."

Things may be going downhill rapidly for LiveJournal, if this report is accurate. (I haven't seen confirmation anywhere else and don't know how reliable Daily Dot is.) My Scrapbook has been "migrated." There are no preview images, the structure of nested galleries has turned into a long flat list of galleries, and my friends-locked images are gone or else hidden in some obscure corner ( Read more... )

The rumor mill has been flying since last night, but Here's the latest official word from LJ, finally in English though still with a Russian page title. Scrapbook, the photo storage feature, will be "upgraded" to Scrapbook II. LJ has surpassed its usual tendency to make things worse by eliminating navigation links. I suppose they think that people are going to visit just one page and then leave the site. They may well be right -- now.
