Oh my god. Just made this french onion soup casserole. Holy crap, was it good. I will have to make a double batch next time. I did tweak the recipe a bit, because I can't not. I'm trying my hand at once or twice a month food shopping and bulk cooking. This weekend I made;

1. Pasta Sauce. Made a veggie version of a bolognese; tomatoes, carrots, onion, garlic, and cauliflower. Simmered in the crock pot for a few hours, then packed into 1 cup servings and frozen.

I've begun baking my own bread to try to shave a little off our food bills. So far I've made basic white bread and a potato bread. Pretty tasty. I'm going to try a wheat bread next, we'll see what the hubby thinks.

Pulled pork in homemade bar-b-que sauce, kohlrabi slaw, mashed potatoes, and corn, with cranberry apple pie for dessert. Nummies.

I picked up a couple of vintage (1952)cookbooks the other day. They are awesomely bad. I only wish the pictures were in color. The captions accompanying the pictures are great!
