It's one of those days where the weather can't quite decide what it is doing. There has been heavy rain, sunshine, strong winds and occasionally all three at once. We went to Brighton for the day on Thursday and it was just the sort of day that my mother would have prescribed to get rid of a cold and "blow the cobwebs away". The wind was blowing really strongly which meant that there were actual waves, which is the way I really prefer the sea.

J went for his second jab today, which is a huge relief. For his first jab I went with him to show him where to go but this time I was left in the house on my own. I am currently sitting next to a small forest of tomato plants. I'm sure by this time last year we were putting them outside to harden them off but this year the weather means we dare not. On Saturday we did something we haven't done for over a year and met my brother and sister-in-law in a pub. We have seen my brother and sister-in-law more recently but we haven't set foot in a pub since March last year. Time has been extremely strange for the whole of the past year but this April seems to have sped by. It has been unusually cold and very dry but it has meant the daffodils and tulips in my garden have lasted longer, though I noticed just in time that the flowers in tubs needed water before they keeled over and died of thirst.
