We came to a meeting of the minds on seeing THE HOBBIT this weekend - Saturday - at the nearby Studio Movie Grill in Wheaton. I’d rather do the whole fanboi thing and see it at the first showing at Midnight, but the next day is a school/work day.

Coming back from the Norovirus or whatever it was that had me screwed up for a big chunk of last week; staying away from anything greasy (lots of butter, say) seems to have kept the worst explosions at bay, and my appetite came back…still had stomach cramps at the dangdest times.  I think that’s past, but energy-wise, I’m still running on low power ( Read more... )

The tax program choked and died on me on install; had to clean everything out and reinstall.  Had to also dig up our old tax files for the program, so that it could pull forward old information for multi-year stuff affecting our taxes, and those had gotten stuck away somewhere and were more of a bear to find than I figured.

We spent all of Saturday being very quiet around the house; everyone was very very tired from the bustle of the holidays, and Susan’s knee was swollen and painful. (She’s been fighting off this arthritis stuff a lot, and things like walking a lot or shoveling snow have just been killing her.)

When I first saw this yesterday, I thought this was a hoax, but apparently, the studios and Peter Jackson made nice, and he will produce THE HOBBIT, in two parts.  Two parts?  How odd.  The movie won’t start in the writing process until the writers’ strike is over, so don’t expect the movie for 2-3 years.  Pity that.
