Roman Polanski was arrested in Switzerland on his old 31-year old criminal warrant from America.  I didn’t think they’d ever manage that one.

I asked Meredith to give her fashion responses for what she saw on the red carpet.  Her mom was ginking her somewhat for being awfully negative, but Mere the fashionista responded: “well, I AM saying when one thing is good and the other isn’t.”

Russian factories are idling or out of work due to a crash in Russia; their economy depended on high oil prices to go on forever.    The natives are getting restless…

I’m come to the conclusion, especially after reading the MSNBC review, that I would rather have my teeth removed with a buzzsaw than watch REVOLUTIONARY ROAD.   I don’t need anything depressing, and people flailing each other over their own shallow talentlessness and devising stupid schemes to Run Away in the process - oy.  Gevalt, even.

Basically, my plan would be to catch the three animated noms (two are on DVD), and all of the best picture plus Doubt.   Past that, probably Dark Knight, Changeling, Rachel Getting Married, and Frozen River.  I have no interest in seeing The Wrestler whatsoever.
