We came to a meeting of the minds on seeing THE HOBBIT this weekend - Saturday - at the nearby Studio Movie Grill in Wheaton. I’d rather do the whole fanboi thing and see it at the first showing at Midnight, but the next day is a school/work day.

• Getting rid of a miserable headache that has been plaguing me this morning.  Feel foggy, tired, draggy and aching. And then I look at the below:

…and really, MONTE CARLO was a cute bit of teenager romantic fluff.  Parents, it’s watchable if you care to, and your brains will not rot on contact with it.  Selena Gomez does a nice job, but I swear I could see every pore on her skin.

A big storm came through here and did a lot of damage - trees and power lines down everywhere.  This messed up other things for what the girls were going to do, and they’ve been quietly at home most of the day, playing in the house.  (Susan drove off for a few appointments this afternoon and took Mere’s skates with her…so Mere couldn’t do any ( Read more... )

See it because you are curious about what it will look like on the big screen. See the original TV show for the story; it’s cut to ribbons in the movie because of time limits, and a lot has been reworked - think of the later HARRY POTTER books versus the movies for the level of changes that I’m talking about. Couple makes ‘wedding trailer’ as an announcement of their upcoming wedding for family and friends: it’s VERY funny.  Helps if you’re some kind of film buff….watch for 2012, Matrix, Bruce Lee and other references in the video.

Look for the Vietnamese subtitles…

“Two Gentlemen of Lebowski” - a Shakespearian version of THE BIG LEBOWSKI, just as odd.   It talks about Johnsons and marmots, so it can’t be all bad.

...on the movie stuff.  Mere is resigned to not seeing Sherlock Holmes, and hoped we could see it ourselves, and is probably going to go see Avatar in 3D early on New Year's Day.

Mere, who recently saw YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES and really dug it, has really wanted to see the new SHERLOCK HOLMES movie with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.  Everyone else in the house wants to see it, but we’re not sure as to whether it’s really appropriate for the little mystery junkie.
