Friday I took the day off from work, because the Alzheimer's Association was filming my family for an internal video. It was so interesting! There was a woman from the Association and a three-man crew -- director, camera, sound. When we got home from the Christmas Eve service, my mother looked around and said, "Where's the purple bag? Jesse, did you take it out of the car?" I said no, I had just grabbed my bag, and couldn't remember what had happened to the purple one. Which had my mother's purse inside it. So she sends my father down to look in the trunk. Spent Friday night and Saturday at my folks', because my mom had been out of town since Wednesday, and she didn't want my father alone for that long. I fully sang every word of that song, full-voice, alone in the house, with my earphones on. My grandmother hasn't been feeling well. And for a spunky 91-year-old with heart failure, that's pretty serious. She cancelled the beach portion of her birthday party this weekend, which was definitely a good call, but really means she wasn't doing well. Friday night, I did cook and freeze the greens and green beans, and ate both ears of corn. Then made raspberry pies for my grandmother's birthday party. Which would have been fine, except I broke an egg yolk into the whites I was separating (the pie is raspberry puree + meringue, frozen -- delish), and had to run to the store at 9:15.
