Went to work.  Left work a little early because I was feeling completely wiped, and my arm and leg were sore from the fall yesterday.

Finished knitting another soaker.  It looks very cute.

Finally got a semi decent photo of my new bag, wrote up and posted the pattern on my knitting blog.

1.  A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini.  Although I think the Kite Runner is, perhaps, a better/more universal book, this book seemed much more personal, much more about linking the individual women with Afghani women as a whole, as well as Afghanistan as a whole.  I've wanted to visit Afghanistan since I read "Lie Down With Lions" by ( Read more... )

I really think that the Joshua James album, "The Sun is Always Brighter" is going to quickly become one of my favorites.  I especially like the song "Soul and the Sea".  Folky/poppy/singersongwritery.  Check it out.  It also doesn't hurt that it's for sale at i-tunes for $6.99.

Read: Goodnight Nobody by Jennifer Weiner. I knew she could do an excellent chick lit book. What I didn't know was that she could write a very good murder mystery on top of it. Very fun read ( Read more... )

1) The Forge of God, by Greg Bear, is one of my favorite SF writers. This book, one of his somewhat earlier books (1987) helps keep him in that list. The book, about an alien invasion of Earth, pulled me in from the first pages, with a mixture of excitement of first contact, to dread of what's going to happen, through to the final, teary pages ( Read more... )

We spent yesterday with part of my dad's side of the family. It was wonderful to see Nana and Karen and her kids. Also, Dad, my little brother (12), and my sister and her daughter.
