For my first vacation task, I...washed my winter sweaters. This is a good job to do while I'm off, as it takes all week for my big heavy sweater to dry fully and my drying rack takes up a fair amount of space in my bathroom. I did this yesterday afternoon. I opened a fresh package of dryer sheets yesterday. I'm not a big fan--I use my dryer hedgehogs when I do loads of only my items--but I'll use them with the communal laundry. For my stuff, only my bed sheets and face masks get washed with my parents' clothes, so those are the only linens exposed to the dryer sheets ( Read more... )

My mother does not have good luck with the washing machine. At one point, I think my dad had gone to grab the mail and put it on top of our top-loading washer while the lid was up, the mail fell in, mom didn't know or notice, and when the wash was done, she opened it up to find little pieces of mail stuck to her clothes. Sunday is laundry day, and every other week we do whites, mainly so my father has socks. I have white hand towels that need to get done regularly, and we have our reusable produce bags I need to wash every week; if they don't go in with the whites, on the off-weeks I do them with our lights.
