I'd invited various extra people to the pub quiz last night, as it coincided with my birthday. Sadly, it turned out to be one of the years when it clashed with a lot of people's prior engagements - hazard of having a birthday at this time of year. How we react to a bit of snow in this cityI remember a Canadian relative of some family friends who was visiting them one Christmas when I was a kid in the Midlands. Well, at least we have a little snow falling right now.

As the worst snow in eighteen years has hit London and surrounding counties, there is no train or bus service today. So I'm working from home.

Snow yesterday. London looked lovely in it as usual, but it melted all too soon.

Dashed from pub to pub on Tuesday night. Gave wascally_weasel the money for our Prague trip next week.
Wednesday, met up with BC gamers (minus Fred & Darel) at Five Bells. Did their quiz - came third, by 1/2 a point.
Yesterday was yokospungeon's birthday. We went to a roller disco.

We have proper snow falling, and staying on the ground, here.  In London, that's a major event - it doesn't usually stick around.  I know it can make transport a real pain, but there is something magical about snow.  There are kids playing in the street right now, and one of the overseas students at work told me this afternoon that he'd never seen ( Read more... )
