I had a quiet New Year.
Met up with WW and Bryony at the Alexandra, had a few
Meantime Kolner lagers, a natter, played Munchkin. Don't think Bryony was really enjoying the game, sadly - I think it was a bit too geeky to overcome her resistance to gamery things. WW finally got to see the "invisible warhammer" card I'd asked
muskrat_john to illustrate for me, at any rate.
Afterwards, we went for an early evening meal at
Bodean's, Clapham. Then I made my way home for quiet night in with a glass of
whisky. I'm not a big fan of the enforced celebration of New Year, anyway. Popped into
whytraven's chatroom briefly.
I have a bit of a video/DVD backlog to catch up with (Band of Brothers, Battlestar Galactica series 1, the Warriors et al still unwatched). Been playing a lot of
Canis Canem Edit for the PS2, and enjoying fighting off the bullies with moves learned from the crazy old Korea-vet hobo. Lots of clever little minigames to keep you interested, and fun in-game rewards (room trophies, costumes). When I get tired of that, I have Destroy All Humans 2 and Call of Duty 3 to look forward to.
Watched
The Sarah Jane Adventures on New Year's Day - good to see the actor and character doing so well. She's still my favourite Companion. Nice nods to continuity and other characters from 1970s Dr Who. And,
silverjet_allie, Sarah Jane drives one of
your favourite cars.
Read the
second Captain Alatriste novel over Christmas. Thanks,
copperbird, for putting me onto this series. Really liked it, but I didn't expect...
Back at work on Tuesday. We're currently upgrading our
online catalogue, so I'm busy with tweaking and testing that at the moment.
First quiz of the year last night. Keir not there - he has an abscessed tooth (I know how nasty that is), and is on antibiotics so not drinking. So not at pub. Was a "quiz of the year". I usually write one of those myself, but didn't get round to it for 2006.
