1. What was the best thing about 2020? The best thing that happened to me in 2020 is that I got my cat, Smoke. I started self-quarantining on 9 March. By mid-June it had become clear that this situation was not going to resolve itself quickly. My son, John, asked me if I'd like him to go by PAWS and adopt a cat for me. I said YES! And he did.

I had a pleasant, calm Christmas Day, an astronaut traveling through space and time in my tidy little capsule. My only planned activity was to watch "Love, Actually" at the same time as John and Pam. John said that watching "Love, Actually" was one of Pam's personal Christmas traditions.

Today's highlight was a trip to the South Tower to retrieve a package from the Large Package room. Turned out to be stamps I ordered from USPS. I used up my whole stash of stamps on my holiday cards, then dug into my 66-cent stamps, thereby upping the USPS's profit by an additional 11 cents per card...or, more likely, reducing their loss on every ( Read more... )

Another quiet Sunday, following quiet Fridays, Thursdays, Wednesdays...going back to a quiet Monday, 9 March 2020. 1. How much rain do you get as a yearly average? About 42--45 inches. Doesn't sound extreme, but those inches often occur over hours and hours of thick overcast and drizzle.
