It seems I went a little book crazy. I got a call from the library today telling me that two of the three books I requested have arrived. This is on top of the two I have out currently. We got rain last night!! There was a big storm, with heavy winds, lightning, and thunder. It was AWESOME. We ended up with 1.4" near the house. That's the most rain we've gotten since January. And this storm was a fluke, since the high that's been sitting over us for basically all of the year just happened to kick a disturbance our way. I realize that it's almost noon, but I'm not sleeping well, and didn't go to sleep last night until about 5am, so I'm still really tired. The neighbors across our back fence are doing yard work. Sounds like a leaf-blower. Lots of revving up and revving back down in that pattern that sounds like the Doppler effect. I'd really like to get more sleep ( Read more... )

The more mundane things are still being affected by Ike. I was supposed to see my new psychiatrist today, but had to reschedule because he was still stuck in another city. We all came through okay. We have very very minor damage, and nothing bad happened to our roof, windows, or cars. So some lattice down on the patio doesn't seem all that bad. We have power, too. We were only out for about 6-7 hours. At the moment, we are up and running. The ice in the freezer didn't even melt much. Thank God for small favors. Also ( Read more... )
