The Bob Jones University Museum & Gallery will have an exhibit called The Twilight of a Tradition from September 16-December 7. It focuses on the work of the late 14th century Florentine artist Tommaso del Mazza. The works are on loan from various museums. I haven't been to the M&G in several years. Looks worth a visit. Eldred was chatting with Magnus this evening. Magnus told us about a Grerman band called Corvus Corax. They play medieval music with a difference. :-) It's got a metal sound and bagpipes. I can't believe we have never heard of them from any SCAdians. They are so cool.

A pastor from a local church called to ask what the word is for the "canopy" that cars drive under to let people out in front of a building. He didn't say why he wanted to know. Back in the late 80's I purchased a video tape of The Sorceress and the Friar. It was a fascinating look at the conflict that resulted when a 13th century Dominican friar looking for heresy arrived in a small French village and met a forest woman who cures the locals with potions and herbs.
