My friend Scarlett is coming to visit at the end of this month. I haven't seen her in person for something like 6 years now. Scarlett = awesome, and I'm so excited I can't sit still.

I just got a call from Scarlett! Actually, I just missed a call from Scarlett. I wish I'd known 757 was a Virginia area code. As it is, I didn't recognize it so I let it go to voicemail and just checked it now. But she's okay, and she called me to let me know, and I'm really, really happy!

We've made a couple of new friends, under somewhat extraordinary circumstances. Rachel and I were at a Japanese restaurant when one of the waitresses came up to our table and said to me, "I like your persona." Today the song that's running through my head like the soundtrack of my life is "Life Could Not Better Be" from the movie "The Court Jester".

I'm Polack and proud. Dinner last night was Kishka that sabotlours and carol_kitty were kind enough to bring back from Chicago, along with Lemony Cabbage (my own recipe) and some bread. So good.

Anyone who's going to be in the LA area in September or October, I encourage you to check out a play co-written by a couple of guys I studied theatre with in college: Butterflies of Uganda. Darin is a great guy, and Soenke is a crazy German. I can't imagine this play is going to be anything short of beautiful.

I hope I can get out there to see it.

Last night we played Titan, the first time I've had a chance to play that game in years. We had our first party in Albuquerque this past Saturday, a housewarming. It was a great party, I think the best I've been to in quite a while. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and we got a lot of compliments on the house. People were impressed at how organized we are.
