Yesterday I went with the girls to celebrate another friend's birthday at French Lick, Indiana.  The hotel we were at was insanely cool.  Blow-my-mind amazing restoration of historic luxury hotel.

Huge turn around in the temperatures here.  Today it felt like November--high 50s, drizzly, overcast, windy.  So bizzare considering we were 102 three days ago.  40 degree difference.  And it's supposed to be like this for the next several days.  Feels nice to not sweat, though I'm looking forward to the weekend when it will be back into the ( Read more... )

My area is currently dealing with a little hot spell.  I figure anything goes before Labor Day here, but because we had cooled down after a miserable fucking July, these 100 degree plus temps felt new.  Except it's different.  Yesterday was the hottest day of the year...and yet because the humidity was low, didn't seem that bad.  In July we had 97 ( Read more... )

So it's Derby weekend here in the 'Ville.  The weather has been shit-tastic for the bulk of the week--rain rain and more rain OH! and cold--but today was actually pleasant.  The Kentucky Derby is on the first Saturday in May.  The day before is the Kentucky Oaks.  It is as big a holiday for Louisville as Derby itself, meaning no alarm clock getting ( Read more... )
