7. Aftermath
Doojoon
“Yeah, I know…fine. I’m going there… I’m coming, just hang on eonni” Min clutched her bag tighter, rushing towards the staircase to meet up with the others. She then noticed three boys standing at the side of the hall - it was the two boys she saw before and another one she didn’t recognize. She ignored them easily, except the last one, who suddenly looked up at her…
She shook it off, suddenly remembering why she was hurrying.
Fei eonni will get mad at me for sure…
She turned to face the staircase, not hesitating to rush down -
Her eyes widened -
Her foot stepped down a little too much off from the edge of the step. She gasped, feeling her foot slide off with so much force that it made her lose her balance, making her cry out -
Everything went blurry; she couldn’t feel anything except the sharp hits on her torso, on her legs, arms and it seemed to going on forever…
Suddenly she felt a very sharp pain on her head -
Then everything went black.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The rain was sharp.
Each drop felt like icy daggers.
The two of them. Heavy panting. Shaken. Terrified.
“It’s okay” Hands intertwined.”It’s okay…”
A Shaky breath.
Tear stained face…Blood stained hands.
Alone. Together.
Sins committed… together.
“It’s done now. Everything’s done.”
“It’s okay” Comforting…convincing.
Silence.

They stayed quiet in the room.
Back outside, they could still here the quiet yet serious chatter of the staff outside. They were all seated in a room which seems like a lounge - there were sofas and chairs pushed back on the wall while a coffee table was placed in the middle - which was near the place where the accident had taken place.
Doojoon’s eyes quickly scanned the room.
There were 3 other people in the room aside from them. Three ladies. The one in the middle was sobbing loudly while the other was hugging her comfortingly while sobbing inaudibly. The last one was standing beside them, her hand placed comfortingly on the shoulder of the first girl. She wasn’t crying, but her face remained just as depressed.
Nothing else was heard as the miserable cries echoed out through the cold walls.
Doojoon swallowed dryly. Everything seemed to be ten times louder. The sobs, the rain, the creaks of the floor every time someone would move, it was all pressing against Doojoon’s eardrums…
It was the most uncomfortable thing in the world right now.
He glanced around, shifting in his seat. He couldn’t help but feel this way - staying in the lounge along with the three ladies. His body felt restless. He couldn’t help but occasionally cast quick glances at them. He looked at his five friends.
The five of them were together, in the lounge. No one was talking. No one was even glancing at each other. They were all just blank. Eyes staring into nothing as the tragedy sunk into them.
Someone died.
Someone died a few hours ago.
Someone died in this very motel that they were staying in.
Doojoon closed his eyes.
He was lying in bed doing nothing in particular when Kikwang suddenly burst into his room. Doojoon bolted up into a sitting position. “Kikwang…” he trailed off, seeing at the state Kikwang was in -
Kikwang looked so frenzied, so… panic-stricken. The younger didn’t even say anything - and he probably won’t need to - but Doojoon immediately knew that something was wrong… terribly wrong.
“D-Doojoon hyung…” Kikwang stuttered out, as pale as a ghost.
After everyone else knew what happened they all gathered in the lounge they were in. The three girls were already in, and Doojoon almost wanted to head back out -
But he didn’t. He stayed.
Doojoon covered his face with his hands.
What just happened?
Doojoon didn’t expect much went they went here. This was supposed to be occupying just a tiny part of their memory - easily forgettable once they made it back home.
It was just a tiny bump along the road.
But now here he was, in the lounge, mourning over a recent death, surrounded by a dark aura with things he might not ever forget.
He felt like he’s been here for years than days. He wasn’t sure it that was good or not.
The dark and unwelcoming motel. Gayoon noona…
…Yang Yoseob…
Doojoon suddenly stood up, making all eyes turn to him.
“Um…” he struggled to answer, shifting in his feet. “I…. I’ll just go out… for a while…”
He walked out briskly, all eyes following him as he did.
Doojoon closed the door behind him, sighing once he got out of the tension filled room. He didn’t stop walking though. He just took a moment to breathe before he continued walking random ways -
He kept walking. He didn’t know where he was going, but he kept going. He kept walking - taking random twists and turns here and there - until he felt that he really was alone, away from anyone or anything.
He stopped. He looked around before leaning against the wall. He closed his eyes, trying to calm down his heartbeat which unbeknownst to him was beating wildly while he was walking. He let out a shaky breath.
He just needed some time to be alone.
He needed some space for a while… sometime to think.
Lately Doojoon was having trouble sleeping. He couldn’t get to sleep. He didn’t know why, but it started when they went to this motel. He had to admit, sometimes he would get sleepless nights even at home, but lately it’s gotten worse.
Now... every night Doojoon would lay awake in his bed, not even an ounce of sleep coming to him, no matter how exhausted he was…
Suddenly a faint tune cut off his train of thoughts. It was someone humming.
“London Bridge is falling down…”
“Falling down…”
Doojoon suddenly snapped his head up, getting off the wall. He looked around, eyes widened. Was it….?
Yoseob…?
Doojoon looked around anxiously, looking for the source of the voice. He quickly headed towards one end of the hall. He turned on the corner -
“My fai -“
The humming came to a halt. Doojoon faced the hall in front of him. There was nothing there. It was completely silent.
Doojoon sighed - in both relief and frustration. He probably just imagined it. He straightened himself up… he should be getting back to the others now. He turned around - back the way he came - and started walking. He was merely 5 steps away when -
“Yoon…Doo…joon…”
Doojoon twisted in his heels the moment he heard the voice. Doojoon’s eyes widened.
It wasn’t his imagination.
It was Yoseob.
He was leaning on the wall across Doojoon. “Y-Yoseob-sshi…” Doojoon stuttered out, taking a few steps back.
“Where are you going?” Yoseob wasn’t looking at him; he was staring blankly at the wall beside him, emotionless.
Doojoon couldn’t do anything except stare at Yoseob with wide eyes.
“Where… are you going?” he repeated when Doojoon did not answer.
Doojoon blinked at the question. “Eh - Um… I’m just going back to everyone else…” He scratched the back of his head awkwardly.
“You’re leaving… aren’t you…?” Yoseob continued asking, as if he didn’t hear Doojoon’s answer.
“W-What?” Doojoon was taken aback by the sudden remark.
Yoseob still wasn’t looking at him. “…You’re leaving…” Doojoon’s eyes widened.
“You’re afraid… aren’t you?” Doojoon suddenly stopped, looking at Yoseob. “That’s why you want to leave… you’re… scared…of…me…” Each word trailed longer than the last.
Doojoon swallowed uncomfortably. “What??” Doojoon smiled awkwardly. “Me? Of course not… It’s just that - “
All of a sudden Yoseob smiled.
Doojoon’s eyes widened. Yoseob smiled and hung his head low, allowing Doojoon to see only the bottom half of his face.
It was a smile but it was sad and happy and it was harsh and everything at the same time. It was a manic, insane smile that brought chills to Doojoon’s spine. He wanted to look away, but he couldn’t.
“Liar…” Doojoon felt as if he’s lost his voice. “Liar…”
“You are scared of me. You can’t wait to get away from me… You… you hate me…” Yoseob kept talking. He didn’t stop. He didn’t stop for even a second. He kept talking and suddenly Doojoon couldn’t breathe and -
“Liar…Doo…joo…niee…”
The silence after that was deafening. I was loud and deafening and screaming at Doojoon’s ears as Yoseob kept his smile on. The aura was suffocating and tense that he couldn’t breathe and he wanted nothing but to get out of there -
“Doojoon hyung!!!!”
Doojoon let out his breath that he didn’t know he was holding. He panted softly, heart about to beat right off his chest. Slowly the tense atmosphere disappeared. But he didn’t dare look at Yoseob.
“Yah!!! Doojoon hyung!” Doojoon gulped, trying to steady his breathing before answering back. “W-Wait, Im coming!!” Doojoon turned to the way he came, about to go back to the others -
“Don’t leave…” Doojoon froze. He didn’t turn his head to look at Yoseob behind him - he didn’t want to - but he just listened, eyes wide.
“Don’t leave…please…” His voice was emotionless but Doojoon could somehow tell that there was sadness in his voice.
“Doojoon hyung, hurry!! What’s taking so long?!” Doojoon clenched his teeth. “I’m sorry, Yoseob-sshi” he muttered quietly - he didn’t know if Yoseob heard it or not - before running back to the others.
But Yoseob didn’t hear it.
Yoseob was left alone, with no answer, didn’t even spare him a glance before leaving.
Yoseob stood there, alone, unmoving.
He was still smiling, but his eyes were wide. His eyes were filled with misery as he clenched his teeth, head hung low.
A tear went down his face.
Slowly his shoulders shook. But it wasn’t because he was crying. His shoulders shook continuously with silent laughter; smile wide, as more tears slowly kept appearing.
“Bad…bad…bad…”
Suddenly his eyes turned dark. His voice turned into a cruel, dark one. He laughed once more
“Bad people don’t deserve to live”

Part I: Inescapable Mystery.
End.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Yoseob was walking across the hallway, head tilted. Face blank. His eyes were bloodshot -
“London bridge is falling down… falling down… falling down”
In one hand he carried along one of his dolls. In the other he dragged along a long rope. His bare feet slowly walked across the floor, the floorboards creaking with every step.
“London Bridge is falling down… my… fair… lady”
He smiled.
