Third day in Gothenburg, yet again. I'm heading back down to Lund tomorrow. Dad has been so-so, we had some good hours yesterday and even today, managed to make meatballs that he actually ate for once.

Somehow I managed to watch most of the Boat Race in between family Easter dinner, shopping, cooking, baking, and looking after dad. I was sure Oxford was going to take it home this year too, but my brother rooted for Cambridge, so good for him. It was a good race, the excitement was there all the way through. I honoured my maternal grandfather Anton's death's day the usual way today, by celebrating the very important Swedish holiday Våffeldagen,  and made a lot of waffles. Some of my friends came over to admire my new bathroom, and eat a bunch of waffles. I got two gorgeous bouquets of tulips, and my flat got even more spring-like. It was gloriously ( Read more... )

Crazy couple of days in Gothenburg, and I haven't touched my computer since Thursday night. It IS possible to live without checking ones e-mail, I hardly believed it. Have loads of stuff to talk about from Gothenburg; sunburnt, pretty happy and hanging out with old friends, but also dad in on-and-off mode, he's as ok as he can be I supposed, but when he's off he's a bit worse than before, I feel so bad for mum who has to be on her toes and look after him every day; it's really hard work. I have a sore throat, or at least am on the brink of getting one. My voice is very hoarse, and I've been drinking ginger tea all night. Also found a few sachets of Lemsip, left over from my Scotland trip last year, so made a mug of that too. I don't have time for that now. Back from the glögg and pepparkakor evening, very nice, and being crafty is easier with a little bit of alcohol. We tried a  lot of different glöggs, but I thing the traditional one wins. Also made marzipan figures that got stranger and stranger the later it got. Somehow we managed to construct a gingerbread house, with weird decorations made by ( Read more... )

God, so very depressingly grey outside today. Back from dinner with a former fellow student of English who now lives in Paris and works as an English teacher there. Bad pay but easy to get a job apparently. Might be something to look into. Rent out the flat for 6 months and see what happens. Was very nice to hear about Paris and as always in this ( Read more... )
