I am super glad this past week is over, although it's less a major milestone than it is a sign post in the early miles of a long run. As you may remember, Bob, River went on Rimadyl for the arthritis in her shoulders. At the time, the vet said she may well be able to cut her current full dose in half or even take none at all during the warm summer weather. River's feeling great and going in for blood work on Monday in preparation for a full prescription. YAY. Jack, on the other hand, tweaked his back/spine this morning when twisting to lick at a back leg, so he's moving slow and uncomfortable today. I THINK IT'S WORKING. Today Jack has spectacularly lost no less than 3 knock down, drag out wrestling matches. He's super happy about it.

River had a vet appointment this morning to check her range of motion and discuss potential osteoarthritis pain management options. The tricky part is that while this winter it's been clear she's been stiff and not moving well, it hasn't been as clear whether or not she's been in any pain because of it on a regular basis. Jack's stitches have been removed! Unfortunately, the ear infection he notably did not have at the first vet visit or during the surgery itself has now appeared. He hasn't been scratching at the ear at all or even shaking his head, so we didn't realize it until the vet inspected it while removing the stitches.
