I was invited to meet up with some nursing assistant classmates at a bar & grill last night. Fewer people showed up than originally planned but we had a great time anyway. I warned them I was still broke, but they insisted and told me not to worry about it. Cori had the first round of beer covered:

Tomorrow and Wednesday is more clinical practice at the nursing home. Today we went over skills we probably won't encounter in clinical such as weighing a person and measuring height. In the Nursing Assistant class we had another test today. No, I did not get 100% *sigh* I did get 84%, lower than my last score, but still passing. We need at least 76%. I worried that I hadn't passed until we got the results. There were so many questions I should have known the answers to. Two people got less than 76%. Ordinarily they would have ( Read more... )

1. The Nursing Assistant class is going well. We had our first test yesterday. We had get no less than 76% (50 questions, I got 6 wrong). I got 88%. One question I answered wrong was a really stupid idiotic mistake: When leaving a resident's room, at what position is the bed left? The answer was D: the lowest point. Which I totally knew. 1. In Nursing Assistant class, having to know the skills was completely different than I understood. I thought the instructor told us we had to know them in advance and that we would be tested on them with no assistance. I was wrong. She and 2 other instructors break us up into groups and the instructor goes over each skill, then has us each do ( Read more... )

The first day of class was ok. It would have been better if I hadn't had this new stupid cold. My sinuses hurt, my nose is so congested I can't sniff. Decongestants are not helping. I had to keep blotting my right nostril all day. We got 10 minute breaks every 50 minutes in which I ran to the restroom and blew my nose. We also got an hour lunch ( Read more... )
