An exciting turn of events this morning. I saw a pileated woodpecker in the backyard. I was sitting on the throne in the powder room off the kitchen an hour ago, just looking out the window, when I saw this massive bird fly up into one of the oak trees. I got home from my haircut this morning and the commie neighbor has an invisible fence truck out there. I guess she knows we are serious about calling Animal Control. Though I cannot imagine an invisible fence will work the same for a cat as it does a dog. Dogs in general are dumb animals, cats don't let themselves get pushed around or corralled. ( Read more... )

A very exciting afternoon here. I was walking past the guest room when I saw something out the window in front. I took a gander out there and the turkey was there with her chicks at the front feeder. It has been thankfully quiet today, though I am still feeling overwhelmed with all my non-work duties. I can't imagine how I'd feel if I had any pressure put on my from any clients. It's been a rather low key holiday, which isn't a bad thing. We haven't even really heard a lot of fireworks outside the past few days, which is unusual. I punched myself in the face this morning by accident. The juicer on occasion gets stuck when I am trying to disassemble it. The auger is what pushes down onto this pin that spins the whole thing and I could not get the thing to lift off. I eventually hunkered down with all the force I could muster and pulled up.
