Sixteen years ago from right now, I was laying in a hospital bed waiting for my doctor to come and break my water. Kim would be born less than four hours later, after more than two hours of pushing and a vacuum assisted delivery. Charlotte woke up at 9:30 tonight, crying and screaming.  I cuddled her, checked her diaper, covered her up, finally gave her Motrin - nothing worked.   It's now after 11 o'clock and I've put her back to bed, again.  She's still grumping and yabbering in her bed, clearly not happy about something.

There's puffed wheat sprinkled on the bathroom floor, hunting gear in the family room, yogurt splatters on Charlotte's freshly washed wool (on the kitchen table, still drying), and the butter looks like it has recently been licked by the cat.  These aren't bad things, they're signs of life.  My life.  I could be alone in my impeccably clean house, ( Read more... )

Some kind of break :-/  I've been at work for three hours and I've lost a gas sale (I was alone on the floor and it was very busy, including a line up at the pumps), I tried to scalp myself as I walked out of a storage shed, my boss wrote a super bitchy, insulting note to the staff about cashing out and "not being able to count", and now I'm home ( Read more... )

I left home with my laptop and books at 9:30 this morning.  I came home for about an hour at noon to make lunch, move laundry, gather garbages and remind Kim to do her chores.

Much disturbed sleep last night, then Julia and Charlotte were both awake and climbing on me before 7 a.m.  I got up and made blueberry pancakes for the little beasts.  Charlotte ate some and then dropped the rest on the floor; Julia threw a total hissy fit because they had blueberries in them and "you know I hate blueberries!"
